The Health Record Banking Alliance (HRBA) is a non-profit membership organization with the goal of establishing accurate, secure, and comprehensive health records that can be accessed and authenticated by both patients and their health care providers under the control of the individual patient. We advocate for community repositories of electronic health records (health record banks) as an effective and sustainable health information infrastructure solution, provide assistance to communities building health record banks, and promote necessary legislation & regulation consistent with community health record banks (see http://www.healthbanking.org). HRBA members include state and community health information exchange organizations, health information providers, physicians, and vendors interested in health information technology, exchange, and services.

San Diego Gas & Electric (SDG&E) does not subscribe to that perception. As a utility servicing 3.5 million customers across San Diego and southern Orange counties, SDG&E recognizes the potential impact that existing and emerging energy-related services can have on privacy. SDG&E has taken a strong position to safeguard customer privacy. SDG&E believes privacy is a fundamental right of every customer and is committed to doing our part to advocate for privacy on behalf of our customers and our community. We work collaboratively with external partners to find ways to advance our privacy program and raise awareness about privacy issues.

Privacy by Design (PbD) is a set of seven guiding principles for enabling privacy in fast-growing and technologically advanced environments. By emphasizing these timely principles in development of the smart grid, SDG&E has taken a leadership role in customer privacy.

SDG&E is a regulated public utility that provides energy service to 3.5 million people through 1.4 million electric meters and 850,000 natural gas meters in San Diego and southern Orange counties. Our service area spans 4,100 square miles. We employ about 5,000 people who work every day to deliver the energy our customers need.

Privacy is a fundamental right of every one of our customers and a priority of San Diego Gas & Electric.
