PbD Ambassadors – Organizations
Privacy by Design began as a concept and has grown into a tangible and functioning reality, with a robust framework of principles and implementation guidelines. Many public and private sector organizations have adopted the principles of PbD, representing diverse fields, from specific technologies or organizational practices, to entire information ecosystems and architectures.
As PbD has evolved over the years, Commissioner Cavoukian and her office have maintained one standing objective: to assist organizations facing ever-increasing requirements to protect personal information and seeking to ensure the security and functionality of their technology, practices and physical infrastructure. Effective protection of personal information is a critical business requirement and an opportunity for organizations to build trust with their stakeholders.
In recognition of their application of the Principles of Privacy by Design within their organization, the following are recognized as Organizational PbD Ambassadors.

Ontario Telemedicine Network
The Ontario Telemedicine Network (OTN) is one of the largest and most active telemedicine networks in the world. OTN uses two-way videoconferencing and other technologies to provide access to care for more than 135,000 patients annually (2011 statistics) in every hospital and hundreds of health care locations across the province and is growing by 30% annually. OTN also facilitates the delivery of tens of thousands distance education opportunities and meetings for health care professionals and patients.
OTN has made ensuring that all activity conducted across the Network is both private and secure a strategic priority, embedding Privacy by Design Principles directly into its operations. OTN was the recipient of the 2011 HP-IAPP Innovation Award for a small organization (<500 employees), in recognition of its efforts to improve privacy. OTN is an independent, not-for-profit organization, funded by the Government of Ontario.
